Just driven home from work and stereo suddenly went dead and car lost power, thought it was going to stall managed to crawl home.

No obvious leaks HT leads just replaced only 24k on the clock (99 chim 450)

Now wont start but i think thats hot starter problem.

Did you notice the volt meter dropping, if so it probably the alternator fuse gone and the battery was not charging. Most stereos will work down to 10volts and then cut out. You do not always get the ignition light come on when it goes, mine didnt.

I am not an expert on the electrics of TVR's, but it sounds like either your battery is dead of you have lost the connection to it,
I heard of a main fuse that occasionally blows, but not having experienced that myself, I cant tell you if that would give the symptoms you'vre described.
It may be that the ignition circuit was running directly off the alternator, and once you stopped you could not start again.
I sure someone else will confirm or not later on.

Still feeling sluggish, like its not fueling properly? Having sat around for two years doing nothing (the car not me), what else should I check before handing it over to the expensive boys?

Your car has been standing around for 2 years? The fuel might of gone off, could be a cause of this?

What age is your car? My 1995 car was fitted with a Foxguard alarm that eventually completely died but whilst it was on its way out, I experienced similar problems as the imobiliser cut power to the fuel pump.
If you have a Foxguard unit, I'd get it changed to the META system. I got Carl at Car & Bike Installations Ltd www.tvruk.tv/ to do the work. He is also very knowledgeable when it comes to the electrical system (unlike me!)so maybe able to offer more advice?

Sorry to hear of your plight, I am sure you'll get it sorted, just think of all the enjoyment you'll have in the summer.

Isn't this the starter motor solenoid clicking because the battery is (almost) flat? Might be wise to see if the battery is being charged and/or holding charge before you change other bits....

Edited to add: oh, and check the condition of the 100A fuse between the alternator and the battery. IME they crack due to stress.
