My door windows have difficulty opening and closing. It seems the motors are really struggling. Is this a common prob and if so can any one sugggest a simple cost effective remedy ?

Cheers

My drivers window is the same.

Find if I open the door it goes up and down quite freely - suspect the windscreen presses down on the window frame and puts pressure on the glass.

Not that I recommend this at speed.

Mine is the same, but it doesn't go right up. According to the Bible there is an adjusting screw but I am blown if I can locate it. Any ideas anyone?

The problem will be the tightness of the guides at the left and right edges of the window that it runs up and down in. It takes a lot of fiddling about to get them just right. They are adjusted quite crudely by packing washers at the top and slotted holes at the bottom. You have to get them just right at the top as well as the bottom position, too loose and they rattle like hell when partly open. The next problem you may have is that the glass has to meet the top rubber just right to give a reasonable wind and water seal and allow the door to shut properly. Adjusting windows is not for the feint hearted or impatient, but rewarding when eventually you get it right.

You also have to be a contortionist to get the door inners off - refer to the Steve Heath bible.

Good Luck

Well thanks chaps. It gives me some comfort to know that not only am I not alone with this, but also this is one of the idiosyncraysies that make the car a TVR.

The power at the window motor is severely reduced (ie around 8v not 12). David Beer (on PH) makes a kit to plug and play to overcome the problem.
