I'm looking to clean my 400 engine up a bit. Although it's very tidy compared with many I've seen it could still do with with a bit of a buff. Can any one suggest with best and easiest way of buffing up the metal bits. For ex. what compound and dremmel brush type.

Cheers

Sorry not much help, but i am interested too. Mine could do with a spring clean

I have been recommended to use Auto Glym metal polish for the alloy bit, but would be interested to see what other people have tried.

If you've got a bit of time to spare and are willing to take stuff off to polish it then I'd recommend the kit from Frosts ( www.frost.co.uk/productList.asp?catID=27 ).

i'm about to undertake a similar project next week. I'm going to use Autogym metal polish for the swirl and expansion tanks. For the plenum and rocker covers i'm going to go for a brushed finish, however, polished does sound tempting. You should check out Racing Green TVR's website, they'll ceramic coat them in any colour, they look really smart!

RR

Cheers, I'll do that. I guess it'll take a few months to get her how I want her...perhaps longer if the weather remains like today

Used carefully traffic film remover (TFR) is very good at cleaning alloy engines and engine parts
It won’t make it look all bufty or anything, but it easily removes ugly stains n oil
I used it on mine and was pleased with the result; esp considering it’s easy to spray on n just wash off
Just don’t mix it up to strong tho, as it will leave unwanted marks.
