I'm sending my radio panel off to be re-veneered, is it easy to get the switch gear off ? I've read in the "Bible" that the panel is held on by four screws so that seems straightforward but it doesn't cover the removal of the switches and alarm led....

It does depend what age/version of dash you have. If it's aluminium switchgear then the switches are held on with a simple bracket secured with a small nut. I haven't tried to get the led out so can't comment on that.

i've just done mine (94 model with 3 buttons for lights). when you take the radio out, there a 4 screws, take these off and the panel comes away. everything is held on by glued backets, just pull them off with the aid of a screwdriver. dont forget to mark their positions first though, they are a nightmare to line up otherwise.

On mine a 97, the switch gear is on a metal carrier and is attached to the veneered panel by a bracket that is glued onto the back of the veneered panel. The carrier and bracket are attached together by a 'hook and eye type' set up. Slide the carrier out of the bracket using an upward motion (or downward depending on how it's set up).
