Alarm expert in the North?
Discussion
Alas, an oft-quoted problem - an intermittent alarm fob that has currently left PNJ outside unlocked. I've heard wonderful things about the ubiquitous Carl at TVRUK, but he's many, many miles away (we're up in Co Durham and he's at the other end of the country in Hampshire).
Anyone know of somewhere in N Yorks / Co Durham / Tyneside that might be able to help with replacement fobs, recoding & also a possible remote boot release?
Thanks in anticipation!

Try ringing him, he might be able to sort you out over the phone/by post.
paul.
Wedgie,
try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds or so, then reconnect.
I had a similar problem where I knew my key fob was working but the bloody car would not
lock or unlock the central locking.
I disconnected the battery for 30 seconds then reconnected and everthing has worked fine since.
I have since worked out that the locks get their knickers in a twist, because the alarm will not set if it thinks one of the doors is open, so ignores the key fob.
Give it a try, it won't cost you anything.
Cheers,
Paul.

You could do worse than speak to the guys at HHC. I had a similar problem, ie: only one fob worked and the other was a little tempramental to say the least. HHC took my alarm control unit out, and sent it off to be re-coded and it came back with a couple of working fobs. The turnaround was less than a week if I remember. Not sure where it was sent, but it could have been Carl.
Cheers
Andy
Try Hexham Horseless Carriage... I'm in a similar position where I only have one fob, and I contacted Carl but he needed the alarm number, which was the only thing that didn't come with the car. HHC are trying to get hold of one for me by contacting the factory for the original number etc.

Solved... £3-worth of new batteries in the fob was all it took. If anybody needs em, they're CR1220's, and www.battery-house.co.uk are an excellent supplier - cheap as chips, no postage charge and next-day delivery - what more can you wish for?
As an aside, however, what a bl00dy stupid idea to have the fob as the only way of locking / unlocking a car.
For the alarm only, fine, but having to leave your car unlocked (and therefore vulnerable) and probably invalidating your insurance is design madness. One would almost be tempted to do a Mr Bean job and put a hasp & staple with a padlock on the door! Have TVR got away from this on, say, the Tuscan?

For information, i got a spare alarm 'blipper' for my old Griffith (Gemini system) from this company in Spennymoor (Co. Durham!). www.alarmremotes.co.uk/ It works just fine.
From memory, all they needed was the alarm unit code and they sent out a replacement. The code is normally written in the owners handbook (just below the paint and upholstery codes) and also inside the existing 'blipper'. It certainly was on the old (1994) Griffith.
