Has anyone any useful advice for retro-fitting clear front indicators to a 96 chim accessed via radiator grill. What type of silicone is used ? is it easy to access & is there a knack that may save time/ damage to any components ?

Any useful info appreciated.

Andy,
A good silicone will do it. They can be changed for reversing lights with orange bulb put in. DON'T buy Tuscan indicators as they are a lot more expensive.

Thanks for teh advice
I trust the silicone used is any obtained via a DIY outlet or is there a specific automotive solution?

Called Tiger Seal or Sikaflex...

I have just done it, used a couple of small dabs of epoxy resin to get them fixed in position (which is quite brittle so should crack loose should i have to replace them), then used black silicone sealant to secure & seal.

www.marcusglenn.com (£25 each + postage)

or ebay - do a search for Land Rover, think the shop is called L.R.Series, (£18 each + postage)

failing that searching for Nato Lens, Bug Eye Lense, AEU 1375 should get you there...

I have just fitted clear ones instead...but they were a pig to do!! Took me an entire day! I butchered another lamp to get them

I would go for ebay (used to sell them on there myself), search for "military lights" there are a nice looking pair on the moment that have four days to go

Got mine from Peninsula TVR in Devon. Think they were about £50 incl VAT and delivery for the pair.

I just paid £38 pair from ebay, they do come up but not often. There are also just lenses, but best to go for the complete unit.

It was my thread & I would love to know why it took someone a whole day, this is the type of advise i was looking to digest. What were the problems?
