Sorry peeps the search seems to keep hanging when I try and find an answer.

Will the 17"" alloys from a cerb fit the chim?, 235/40 front and 255/40 rears with a 5 stud pattern.

Thanks

I know this would have been covered before but the search is still playing up. How do you go about getting the conversion? Is it it easy to do/reversable just a converter on the wheel?

ok after a bit of digging on the tvrcc forum looks like I would need new hubs made. Anyone done this and got a rough idea of cost?

You also need to shorten the rear halfshafts and inset the rear hub. I did mine using the TVR conversion. I don't think that route is available anymore but I have seen a kit on PH Classifieds recently and they appear on ebay from time to time.

Hmmm not quite the simple conversion I first though then. How much did your conversion cost? I pretty sure TVR don't sell the kits anymore and TVR car parts cant give a quote until tomorrow, my only rush is that there are some alloys on ebay ending soon.

Cheers.

Too difficult to separate the hub conversion price out of the kit price. The kit included an AP disc and calliper conversion and a set of spiders plus loads of ancillary bits like braded brake hoses, bearings, buffer blocks to reduce steering rack displacement, stuff like that. The hubs are basic ford four stud with a five stud plate fitted. The rear hub that comes with the kit has a different offset to accept the standard TVR five stud rear wheel hence the need to shorten the halfshafts.

Err, bob, the only reason to shorten the halfshafts is cause the threaded part of the driveshaft sticks out too far and knocks the centre cap off the spiders! The hub is fundamentaly the same.
Hans Dazullian (apologies for the spelling Hans if you're reading this) does a kit, I think he had them advertised on PH for around the £800 for the budget kit (incl. wheels and brakes) TVR won't split the kits, it's all or nothing and they won't sell you the 18" Spiders instead of the 16"s.
You can (with access to a lathe) knock a set up easily, but by the time you factor in bearings etc Hans' kits work out good VFM (as do the TVR ones if you need a couple of tyres and discs!)

So you need to have the brake upgrade as well then?
I'm pretty sure you cant get the complete kits anymore and to be honest I don't really want the 16"" spiders, the idea is to go to 17"" as I have 16"" at present anyway.

TVR sell the whole caboodle and nothing else 16" only. If you go this route, but want the 18"s buy the TVR kit, and sell the 16"s on eBay (unused) and pick up a set of 18" Rears (4 Off)......it would probably work out the "cheapest" if you didn't want the 16".

Hans was selling just the hubs or the full kit. When I spoke to him he only had a couple of sets left, and I think he was after £400 for the hub conversion. You would then need to re-drill your exisiting discs to the new PCD if you wanted to reuse them.

Thanks for that. A bit more pondering then is needed if I have to splash out on upgraded brakes etc, not a bad thing but a tad more costly than I first thought.

Cheers all.
