long story but basically had to go to site (work) to witness sound tests being carried on vent plant (blah, blah)...thing is this had to be done at night to minimise back ground noise.

Decided to take the chim - clear skies so took the roof off and it was 11.30pm - what a blast!!!! Done it before but it was ages ago - forgot how much fun it was. Got a few strange looks but i was having too much fun to care! theres something about driving with the rood down in the dark? engine seemed to run smoother (cooler air?) + sound seemed cleaner, deeper, richer - all this and practically empty roads = bliss!

Anyone else done this recently?

I often run with the roof off at night in the summer. You get some funny looks but get to enjoy the noise and wind in the hair. It started when I couldnt be ar*ed to pull over, empty the boot and refit the panel just because it got dark. I did Swindon to Manchester that night and never looked back!

Not had chance to do it in the Chim yet but I used to do it most of the time in my wedge. Lovely on warm summer evenings/nights plus no risk of sun burn on top of my head (bit thin up top). Looking forward to a summer of topless runs in the dark (topless Chim before anyone comments).

I thought you were going to continue "so I took the Chimaera and when I got there my colleagues told me I'd ruined the tests and that they'd heard me coming 3 miles off with their sensitive sound measuring equipment".

He's saying nothing until they can prove it was him who broke it all

I got there before the sound guys got there - when they got there they spotted the car and i couldn'y leave until all the tests had been completed! Still....the roads had even less traffic on them on the way home...don't think i am popular with the neighbours today though....

Get the Chim converted into a folding hard top like thingy....hinge the boot at the back....slide the roof panel into the boot...weekends work....or probably a bit longer for lazy feckers!!!
