Mark Admas Re-Map Session at Austec
Discussion
I think I may have to make an appointment with the Doctor to have my face re-set to remove the inane grin that it has displayed since driving the car back home yesterday following a re-map session with Mark Adams at Austec.
The transformation in the driveability of the car is simply quite astounding. The throttle response is now amazing in every gear throughout the rev range and the power delivery much smoother. Having the car re-mapped didn't actually increase the headline power figure - the car was producing 296bhp before and after the re-map, but clearly numbers and charts alone don't tell the whole story as the car feels much much quicker. So if you're sitting on the fence as to whether or not to have your car re-mapped with Mr Adams, I can heartily recommend it.
Obviously I'd like to thank Mark for his wizardry, but also Tom at Austec for all of the help he gave Mark in re-mapping the car and Alex at Austec for supplying timely caffeine fixes to keep us all on the ball during what turned out to be a long day yesterday.

Sounds fabulous, pleased you got a good result there, these cars are great when theyre on song
,nand your so right, numbers dont tell the whole story
Do you mind me asking how much Mark charges these days/how much your session cost?.Now the Lucas can be mapped by others i was hoping he'd be a little less expensive?

You won't get anything like the money you put in back, so you're best to get max. out of it by enjoying the improved performance for as long as you can. If you're going to upgrade to a newer TVR in the not too distant future, hold your cash back and put it into improving the performance of your next motor (Speed 8 Tuscan anyone?

Very good point to make as it is often overlooked. Whislt chasing numbers is probably less than 10% of what mark does it is also AFAIK the easy bit.
Spot on HarryW. It's very easy to get caught up with peak bhp and torque figures and not to concentrate on the on-road improvements. Mark said after the cars first RR run, before he put his chip in, that it would be difficult to improve on the peak numbers without physically modifying the engine, which is why he spent his time on improving the characteristics of the engines performance that would lead to real on the road improvements.
I know my 296bhp will be questioned by the doubters and yes it is rolling road specific, but you can't take away the real-world on-road improvements. What I didn't mention earlier on is that my Chim 500 was completely standard except for an ACT induction kit, which by the way is an excellent bit of kit for the money.
Cost-wise, it took around 3 hours to re-map and set me back just under £900 including VAT - not cheap, but then you get what you pay for and IMHO worth every penny.

Surely the £900 included a few parts etc?
Normally they have a yellow sticker on them saying what exactley it is, not sure if earlier ones did ?
trying to remember of the top of my head but i think if you are looking in the ecu the MA chip is piggy backed but the standard one isnt....thats a "I think" have some pics somewher so will have a search.

See that's what worries me. My ecu is piggy-backed, but no sticker.

You can go fully mappable emerald for around a £1000!!
Han: Ten thousand, all in advance.
Luke: Ten thousand! We can almost buy our own ship for that.
Han: But who's going to fly it, kid? You?
Luke: You bet I could. I'm not such a bad pilot myself...
