Carpet colour suggestions?
Discussion
I'm going to get my Chim recarpeted - currently I have a coal-hole all-black interior (which I actually really like) - but I fancy a change, and thanks to a persistent leak last winter which ruined the footwell, I am going to get it done.
Trouble is....don't know what colour. I was thinking about Portland Grey, to lighten the interior...but I dunno, seems a little monochrome, as the car is silver.
So I thought about...brace yourselves...TVR purple, with black piping! I drove a silver Tuscan with purple interior at Gatwich TVR couple of weeks back, and it looked cool. Waddya think?
Any other suggestions? Anyone got any pics of a black interior with contrasting carpets?

Keep it simple, keep it black - but go for the best quality (Wilton?) and note the difference in the intensity of the hue, and how easier it is to keep clean than substandard weave.
Good advice LA ....you know whats best for all that is TVR plus some
Can we all have a ode to all Tiv drivers out there FFS
Well it definitely will be Wilton, or similar v high quality. The black just looks soooo, well,...black.
Of course, you're right, purple...what was I thinking?!
But a nice slate or Portland grey Wilton interior...that would work, wouldn't it?
And what exactly does an "ode to TVR drivers FFS" mean?

Ye Gods..purple! Purple - are you kidding!! Purple never, ever looks good inside any car. I mean really - is this a wind up?
If the car is silver the interior has to be black or red.
Actually as a semi-serious point, the sooner TVR gets round to standardising its interior colours to exclude some of the more garish combinations the better so far as long term values are concerned. Actually make that some of the more garish exterior colours as well. Killing the brand.

Sharky
For what it's worth I think the grey would look good. Looked at a few cars with all black interiors and it really put me off them. The grey carpet could give it just the (subtle)lift it needs.
Surely there is someone out there with this colour combination that could post a picture.
Just had a look on Fernies website. Have a look at the Satin silver chim. Not exatly black leather, but it gives an idea of what grey carpets would do for it.

Thanks all for your input. Appreciate it.
Decision made - Portland Grey Wilton carpets, with black piping. Should brighten the coal-hole, yet still be in keeping with the original look'n'feel if the car.
I have already installed Leven stainless heel-plates, and that simple measure improved the interior no end.
It did surprise me some of the comments some made about TVR interiors in this thread. While I personally wouldn't ever order a green TVR with yellow and purple interior, (OK, I may have had a funny five minutes for considering purple carpets, but hey, I wasn't ever seriously going to actually do it) the fact that I could is appealing. TVR is a car for individualists, and they should be entitled to do what they want. One man's meat is another's poison.

Yes I do take the point that it is a car for individuals who are able to specify their cars any way they wish. However unfortunatly most British people are poor at design (look at the way the average British man dresses).
Starmist blue and magnolia, whilst not my choice, is a perfectly acceptable combination and could almost be said to be classic TVR in the way Rosso/Crema is a classic Ferrari combination. However some of the colours that the Sagaris is appearing in are far too extrovert, being charitable, on what is already an overdesigned car.
I think TVR should go back to a limited range of colours with contrasting interiors devised obviously by designers with, hopefully, a modicum of taste. Some of the spectraflair colours are awful.I don't think someone wanting a Sagaris will not order it because he can't get the car in Trousers Green. Give him a choice of Starmist green , Cooper green, BRG or at the very edge of the good taste spectrum - Jaguar F1 green. He'll still buy it. What about Starmist grey and red interior?
Less is more.
Slightly off topic now but I do think TVR is headed down a dead end path at the moment.
