My '99 Chim 450 doesn't seem to leak much, well I've very rarely noticed it (usually only after blasting it when washing or once when the wiper washer hose came disconnected (what an ordeal to fix!)

But obviously it has leaked in the past, the interior of mine is pristine and the carpets are beautiful but have a musty smell. I've cleaned and vac'ed and used carpet cleaner and carpet freshner etc, but all to no avail. Any suggestions?

Ta!

....do the shake'n'vac, and put the fresheness back....

Sorry, being of the American persuasion, you may not be familiar with the above piece of classic commercial television...However, seriously, you might give some of the stuff a try if all else fails!

Once had a toyota MR2 with the same problem. The smell was so bad that even driving it for over 15 minutes meant you arrived smelling of the inside on clothes you were wearing. Eventually discovered a spray on foam upholstery cleaner made by Decosol called instant valay. Make sure all the carpets are fully dry, clean as directed on the tin, clean all parts of the carpet including the sections under the seats in one session. It worked first time round, amazing stuff and cheap at around £4 a tin (you will need two tins max). There is a careline number on the tin if required, it is 0800 590425. Also clean any leather sections with leather cleaner at the same time.

well to be honest tried a few things to make smell go away
but it wool, and wool will always smell once has been wet and left to dry in a long way
just replace carpets, makes car smell like new
there not exspensive and only takes about 3 days to do
but hey thats what i did
also i did not think mine was leaking much
till i go t down taking carpets out and you would be amazed how much they do
i eventually cured all mine but took days of sitting in car with hose, heavy rain
marking all locations where water was coming in then finding the cure (knightmare)
but hey
