Alternator

Sorry if this has been asked 100000's of times but the search function isnt working! Is the alternator on a 4.3 Chim the same as a Range Rover jobbie as it seems to have gone ca-put last nite leaving my battery with no charge and the alarm waking the neighbours up @ 5.30!!

Have you checked the 100amp fuse? Could be a cheaper fix?

Thanks for the advice, where is the fuse? I havnt received my bible through the post as yet so im a bit stuck?!

Here's the bad news... it's strapped to the chassis (on the driver's side I *think*) in a little black box.

You'll need to get the car up on axle stands to get to it.

Thanks for your help ill get it up on axel stands later. So im looking for a small black box with a fuse in it strapped to the chassis? Shouldnt be too hard to find i wouldnt imagine.

If it's fitted with it, no. But there's quite a few cars out there that don't have it, so don't look too hard for it.

Well i finally got a new alternator as my old one seemed to be the cause of the probelm!
Fitted it earlier and it cured the problem but even better it cleared my 3k misfire!!
Its the first time that iv drove the car with its full power and its absolutley fantastic!! It revs straight round to the red line without any hesitattion!!
Its nice when things work out like that
