Does anyone happen to know the standard thread - I have a damaged one and can borrow die and a tap to clean up the stud and the wheel nut - just wondered if anyone knows to save faffing about

tks

Jeff,
I think on some things that would be fine but NOT on a wheel bolt.
Even if it was a low powered car the consequences could easily be fatal.
On a TVR with the power we all have? No way.
I brought a set of locking wheel bolts from Halfords less than £30, they are the ones that fit a Ford

Thanks Keith

Agreed on a driven wheel but this is a front wheel stud with very minor thread damage that just needs a light clean up - no risk

Cheers

If it's only a 'light' clean up, can't you just use a needle file? Otherwise, agreed, you should replace it.

Thanks guys for the help. Could use a fine file but prefer to spin a die up the thread - don't worry I also fly and service my plane which has all sorts of critical bits and you can't put it in a layby if it breaks - wouldn't compromise if stud damaged beyond 'light remedial'.

cheers
