Hi just looking at the Tuscan Convert and was thinking that those nice roll hoops would look nice in Chimaera.

Anyone know if they could be fitted to a Chimaera or Griff for that matter?

Any ideas on mounting points etc????

Thanks,
Colin L

I'm also looking for that type so any info would be appreciated.

There was a cosmetic version I looked at some time back but can't remember where from. I thought it pointless in the end because I was looking to improve safety not looks. In the end I decided not to fit a roll bar because IMO the standard bar spoils the aesthetics of the car. I'm sure a suitably engineered double hoop could be made to both look good and hold up when most needed. It may need some bracing between the hoops but as long as the hoops are higher than the bracing it would look OK

Peninsula made and installed a few (that's the "old" Peninsula - which is now Dulford Auto). I agree with tvrbob's comments though. I don't like the look of any roll bar in a Chim/Griff but apart from the obvious benefit, the goal post design stiffens the car up noticeably which is a good thing. I'm no engineer but I doubt the double hoop design would be as effective in either department.

Have a look at the Chimaera in the classifieds (page 2 in green) he has loops.

Just spoken to the owner Peter, very helpful. They were fitted by peninsula about 18 months ago, came in a variety of finishes including leather as shown in the pics.

Peter said they were a bit pointed i.e. could do with having a larger radius at the top. The seat adjustment is compromised by about 1 inch because of the down tubes which may be a problem for taller drivers who have the seat fully back and reclined.

No idea whether they are still available, anyone got Peninsula's number?

They look OK but the Tuscan ones have a brace bar back to the rear chassis mount place on the normal roll bar or harness fixing points.

Was hoping to find something which will keep leg room as well, maybe fitted to the chassis tubes by bolts...

Am sure someone has the right way to do it.

Come on guys any more info???

The Tusc Conv has special mounts on the chassis that provide the strength. Not compatible with a Griff or Chimaera.

Anything is possible. Remove body. Modify the chassis. Modify the body ...

Not really practical when I saw the Tuscan Convertibles on the production line a few weeks ago.

Oh she looks so good so very very good. Some one loves me and I love my Chimaera.

Better paint job than when I got her in Feb '99.

Really is that good MarkH

As for the Roll Bar the one Andrew made up is in the back garden, its to bulkly no rear vision at all and I really like the look of the Tuscan on.

Even thinking its only me that is going round track so why not just one hoop behind me, who knows.

Anyway I have joined you in the not been on track in my car this year club, we both need to change that and soon........

Oh yes drop me an email about your wing mirror change and thinking of doing it this summer as well.

Cheers,
Colin L

How about Bedford on the 27th, nice and smooth with acres of run off should you get over excited. Andy
