HELP !! Driving along happily today went round a small round about and Trevor cut out! Managed to drift into side road. Normally after turning off immobiliser and switching ignition on you can hear the fuel pump prime up but now its silent. Any ideas, relay? What one? Fuse? Pump? Checked the mil thing its ok and no light on.. Only had TVR four weeks. Could not get it going so we got home on the back of a recovery lorry. I thought the TVR was expensive to run but the recovery lorry was by far the more expensive.

It's rude to shout!

Hi Tricky - put this reply on the carpet thread as I didn't realise you'd started a new topic!

Sorry to hear of your problem. Exactly the same thing happened to a friends Chimaera a few weeks back. He was about 500 yards from his garage so I ended up towing him with my Yaris (and I relish in reminding him about it )

Turned out to be as simple as a loose wire on the fuel pump. Check it out first as it may well save you the garage bills!

Possibly 100amp fuse. Mine did exactly the same - cut-out moving on the open road.

Are you getting any power at all?

CHECKED ALL FUSES RELAYS ETC , WHEN YOU SWITCH ON INSTEAD OF PUMP BUZZING TO PRIME UP I JUST GET A DULL THUD, COULD THE PUMP BE SEIZED? IS IT THE LONG THING BOLTED TO CHASSIS BEHIND NSR WHEEL ,CAN JUST SEE IT FROM UNDER BACK END ?

Have you tried the ECU plug? Assuming all the relays are OK and the ECU plug is in properly then I'd suggest that either the wiring to the pump is iffy or the pump itself is kaput.

If the fuel pump doesn't prime, the engine won't start. You need to find out whether the problem is in the fuel pump, or the electrics that power it. The quickest and easiest awy to do this is to hotwire it with a fused wire directly from the batter 12v terminal to the pump 12v terminal. The pump should then run continuously. If it does, try starting the engine. If the engine starts OK then you have a simple electrical fault in the power supply to the pump. It might be as simple as a blown fuse or failed relay. If the engine *doesn't* start with the pump hotwired then you have a different problem.
