Ok I've managed to get the drivers door panel off my 99 Chimp, got the glass out and removed the old split glass to door "P" seal which appeared to be held in place with a thin line of superglue along it's length.

I was expecting to find a nice channel to slide the seal in. (what a fool)instead there's a concave moulding in the fibreglass which if the seal is pushed snugly into leaves a gap of differing dimensions between the seal lip and the glass (yes I believe the glass is set up properly in it's frame).

It appears the only way to get the seal to touch the glass is to tease it away from the concave recess and try and glue it in position.

Is there a procedure for setting the position and is the lip of the seal (where it wipes the glass set horizontal or should it be angled up or down????

I've knackered the first seal as the superglue set and the rubber tore when I tried to remove it. I plan to use movable impact adhesive when the new one comes.

Any advice most welcome.

try to get the pseal to sit horizontal into the groove/recess in the door, this way you will have more of a chance that it will actually wipe the window glass,oh and dont rush this take your time and superglue(not contact adhesive)a bit at a time

Thanks nemesis, but I am concerned that superglue is a bit final, once the two surfaces touch it's stuck. I don't think it's possible to do the job with the glass in place so how do you know the seal is in correct contact with it?

I need to replace the drivers side seal on mine. Did you get it from your TVR dealer or do you know of any other source? I wonder if you could stick it in place with silicon, at least you could then remove it if it needs adjusting - just not sure if this would be strong enough to hold it in place permanently with the window rubbing against it.

Hi 944 GAV

Isn't it interesting that you can often identify cars that TVR owners had in the past (or maybe still have) by their pen name.

Anyway the seals were by mail order from TVR Carparts.com and cost £3.44+ VAT for each side.

Delivery was super quick.
Ask for Neil perry on 01884 266511. Their website is www.tvrcarparts.com

Maybe I'll wait until you put yours in before I try again.

Good Luck

JEN541, any luck with this? I have the exact same problem with my Griff, the P seal touches the glass at the top and bottom but not in the middle and would be interested in your experiences if you have fixed it.
