Hi all. I am just posting to introduce myself as I am now the proud owner of 94 Chim. Picked it up at 2pm today and my cheeks still hurt from grinning. Couldn't believe it was so cold and miserable this morning on today of all days but sun came out at about 2:30pm. Fantastic.
Never before have I just started laughing out loud from driving a car on the road. Is this normal or just an effect of a fear/excitement induced adrenaline rush?
Anyway enough of that as you have all heard it before.
Thanks to all the members of PH for the info that is available on the site and sps for his specific advice last month. I have been reading as many posts as possible for the past 3-4 months.
Hope to meet many of you soon. I am in the Bucks/ South Oxford area and will hopefully be getting to some of the TVRCC meets.

Congratulations
Fine choice of car (If I say so myself).
Sorry to hear about the cheeks hurting, but unfortunately your gonner have to get used to it.
Got mine in October and still grinning, and grinning and grinning. Bloody (sorry Ted) marvellous cars.

Remember you'll never be on your own with PH!
Finding these knowledgeable Guy's and Girl's gives me a great deal of comfort.

One word (a few actually) of advice, always respect the power, especially in the WET.
Again WELCOME to the world of TVR ownership.

May I wish you all the best, safe driving and keep it shiny side up.
Regards
Big Al.

Thanks ABBTVR
I was very careful on the damp roads today. Went round corners slower than in the family car. I think I will follow the advice of getting some tuition on the road to get the best enjoyment from the car.

BTW
You may not have had a lot of time today, but you profile needs updating!
Big Al.

Hi Rex,

Enjoy the toy, things don't too much better than this...except when it's sunnier and you don't have tp wear a hat with the roof down.

welcome rex, am very pleased you are enjoying your Chim, it just gets better the more you drive it! I too had a good drive out today, I admit to being very cautious still, especially in this weather! With our cars, just remember we have nothing to proove to others on the road, it's just nice knowing you can if you wanted to!!
I don't think I will ever get complacent about the power, and the potential for disater, so I just enjoy my car going at a pace that is within my capabilities, ie; not very fast at all!!!

Any chance of an honest opinion comparing your new Chim to the Multipla...

Hi all - provided the paint shop does a good job on respraying the front end (usual small chips)and Rob Ingleby gives it the thumbs up, I will be picking up my first TVR on 1 February.
It's a 99V Chimaera in Cosmos blue with PAS and aircon, one owner, full TVRSH (same dealer supplied/serviced), 25K miles, no prangs/track days etc and everything checks out with invoices/service book and talking to dealer plus the owner etc.
Have been looking for around 4 months and the experience of looking at around a dozen cars and reading all your comments on this excellent forum has given me the confidence to recognise (hopefully)the right car for me. Well, this plus Mr Ingleby's excellent advice and guidance.
On the insurance front, the quotes today varied from £658 (AON) to £392 with £550 excess or £420 with £350 excess (Mannings/Cornhill) with wife to drive too.
How you ask??? - well I won't see 50 again, live in the middle of nowhere and have max no claims etc!!!
Thanks to you all for contributing to a superbly informative and often hilarious forum.
So all things going well, keep your eyes open on 1 February for a grey haired old "barsteward" grinning like a Cheshire cat between the garage in the West Country and his home in West Kent. The man upstairs has hopefully answered the prayers and guaranteed fine weather.
P.S. my last car was a Boxster. A wise move?

Comparisons between Multipla and Chimaera. Tough one this. Well, cant comment on the reliability as Chim as not let me down in the 32 hours I have owned it. This is infinatly better than the first Multipla we were to pick up as it was rejected about 30 mins beforehand by the garage. Apparently it had a very bad leak which was found when pressure washing it prior to the handing over.
I will let you know how the Chimaera gets on tomorrow if its raining.
In terms of school run (you have probably guessed by this point I have kids) the TVR is again, infinatly better.
MULTIPLA - Can carry kids + friends = Bloody racket
CHIMAERA - Carry 1 child and engine noise drowns out any whining
Image
MULTIPLA - Don't ask (although Clarkson seems to think it is cool)And to think I used to think he was funny!
CHIMAERA - Don't even need to ask
Fuel economy
MULTIPLA - Fantastic
TVR - Who cares?
Laughs
CHIMAERA -You laugh driving the car.
MULTIPLA - People laugh at you driving the car.
Surreal one
MULTIPLA - Can get bulletproof side windows fitted.
CHIMAERA - Just guessing, but probably can't get bulletproof glass
Seriously though, the Multipla is fabulous at what it is designed for and quite good to drive(Wheels at extremities of car with no overhang. Bit like the Mini princilpe). Corners very well when kids not in car compared to other MPV's and trust me I drove loads trying to convince my wife that a Multipla is not for us.
