Folks
I have just had PAS rack (97 chimaera 4.0)taken out and sent to local reconditioner as there was a slight leak from the seals (or so i thought). I have been advised today that when they pressure tested it on completion, they found a crack in the actual casing. Updates from the garage that removed it for me do not sound promising; having made a few phone calls there is a suggestion it is sent to TVR to 'see what they can do'.
Has anybody previous experience of this, if so how did you fix it. Any suggestions gratefully received!! thanks, tony.

depends were the crack is i dont think you should panic just yet,you may be able to get it TIG welded but use an engineers for this as they understand machining & if it will be safe etc.hopefully then you can get it built, good luck let us know how you get on.

Thanks, now have rack back and will keep you posted. It is about a three inch crack, although can't say i could really see it with the naked eye, which leaks when pressurised. They did say not the first they had seen, although not sure why the casing should crack.

Ended up with old rack going back to factory and a new casig being supplied - not exactly a cheap job at the end of the day, what with labour, the initial repair and the factory bill! Such are the joys of life!
