Sorted my heater fan problem out over the weekend. Connector on the control unit had burnt out at the main power and earth connections.

Chopped the old connector off the loom and replaced it and soldered a new socket onto the circuit board of the control unit. This gave me a functioning fan again much to my joy and surprise so the board has obviously survived. Problem is that unless I can sort the cause it will assumedly do the same thing again.

Looks to me like the connector is not designed to take high current - most similar ones seem to be rated at about 8 amps. TVR say that the fan should draw less than 15 amps and mine is running at about 9.5 at full speed.

The big question is how do I stop it from frying itself again? Toying with the idea of fitting an in line slow blow fuse with a lower rating. That may possibly help to protect the control unit but still doesn't solve the problem. Any ideas would be welcome.
