One of my injectors has completely frazzled. There is serious melting around the connector block and where the wires enter the connector block. I have the parts to repair but I want to know the cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No idea but could be a fault in the connector causing local resistance and heat build up. Or a faulty ballast resister causing excess voltage across the injector (would have thought that would have affected the whole bank, and also taken out the injector driver and/or the injectors though) or if the injector has been replaced, does the new one the right electrical characteristics?

Some Rover injectors are 5 volt (IIRC) and require a resistor to drop the voltage. The Chimaera ones are the 12 volt type and don't have this. This will frazzle the injector PDQ. If the internal electromechanical coil shorts it will cause overheating and the symptoms.
