Well there were quite a few hybrids as per usual TVR upgrades. I think thats what I have - '97 450 I have the upgraded dash, door buttons on the mirrors, bigger bonnet cut outs, facelift front but old tail lights and no recessed number plate.

If only it were that simple! Form the end of 1995 to about the beginning of 1998 you could have some or all of the mods fitted. Some of the main changes were, boot lid, bonnet, front recess, dash, engine, door opening, gear box, chassis, brakes, diff... the list goes on. But from about 1998 all the changes were incorporated.

Mines a May 1996 (its 10! ) and has the serp engine, BW gear box and the 500 chassis and brakes, yet a Sept 1995 model I saw at a dealers had a pre serp engine and the rover gearbox and the 400 chassis and smaller brakes.

Owning a car from around this time makes every trip to the dealers for parts a challenge!

Mines a 1996 although not sure of the month yet as I have only just got her and have yet to check, but how do I know if it has the 500 chassis and brakes?

Cheers

The fronts are slightly bigger, 260mm compared to 240mm. The easiest way to tell is with the rears, the 500 chassis has vented rear disc's and the earlier one has solid rear disc's, and 273mm compared to about 250mm for the earlier car.

Mine was first registered in December 1996 and has the full 'face-lift' treatment (Later chassis with bigger brakes, Cerb style front 'grille' and indicators, painted rear 'bumper', extended boot-lid with plain exposed hinges, revised dash, and door releases under the mirrors), but still has the back-lit number plate.

There was a further upgrade in about 1998, where the boot lid hinges were changed (concealed hinges allow the boot to open further which makes it easier to put in both petrol and the roof panel!), the fiesta rear lights were ditched, and the number plate was angled and lit from above. I don't think there were any engine or chassis changes then though?
