Degress C & PSI?
Discussion
Just out of interest, as a newbie I was wondering what everyone else's gauges show on an average drive?
Mine seem to sit at around 80 Deg and 40 PSI (I think), just wanted to check what they should be running at. I'd like to know if I have a problem before they go too far off the scale as well, instead of just thinking, "is that normal?"

Worms can open
There's huge variation across the cars. Mine will sit just over 70C on a motorway with 30Psi
The way I've learnt to judge it is; if the pressure gauge moves when in gear and rolling then this is a good thing
... and if the fans come on when the cars sitting idling after a minute or two then this is also a good thing.
Ah the joy of a relaxing drive in a Chim - the left eye, independent of its colleague, constantly scanning the dials:
Pressure yep
Temperature yep
Fuel yep

Depends massively on the ambient temp and the type of drive. Also the oil pressure can be somewhat dependant on the engine temp, and massively dependant on the weight of oil you use. Mine also has an alloy rad, and temps drop rapidly at motorway speeds.
On a day like today at a steady motorway speed mine would sit at about 70c water, 90c oil and 20psi. Around town the temp would swap, 90c water/70c oil, and the oil pressure would be all over the place.

Hi Matt,
Mine shows the same numbers as yours ( though cold shows 60psi)
Previous threads show a big variance between owners, I'm not concerned
I check the fluids regularly and keep on
Just seen your profile, maybe its a green thing
by far the fastest colour

Didnt think green ones went fast enough to get hot?
Anyway approx 85deg when driving...95deg when in traffic but i have a split rad at the moment so it is a bit hitty miss!!!
Oil is never below 30psi - average 40-50 when driving - 60 when engine is cold!
But like everyone says...they all seem to be different!!!

Probably covering-up the un-finished back of your car

I get 60psi cold, dropping to late 40's early 50's when up to temperature, and on the slowing down lap after races about 19/20psi.
Coolant temperature wise anything from mid 70's to mid 90's.
Oil temperature, not sure as I havent hooked up the sensor yet, but i've the mother of all oil coolers fitted so I shouldnt think it gets that high once the thermostat opens.
Battery voltage 14.1v
Regards
Iain
