I see there have been several tyre threads but I'm still rather new to the site so apologies if I'm going over old ground. Looking for some new tyres. I have standard wheels so 205/55 ZR15 front, 225/50 ZR16 rear. As I understand it you can't get S03s or Toyo 15 inch tyres with the correct speed rating anymore. Is this why a lot of people seem to be changing their wheel sizes? From searching around on the site I see some people are using sp9000s which I think come in the right size & rating. Not keen to change the wheels and interested in what other people have come up with. Thought it would be good to decide on a replacement before I finally 'wear out' the old ones

If those fronts are so difficult to get hold off i would just fit 205/50 15 lots of choice the profile change so slight only mm,s the car wouldent notice no more supply probs either.hope this helps.

Like you I did not want to change wheel size, so I have got the Dunlop sp9000's on mine and seem to work very well. I've got no complaints.

If you look around you can still get Eagle F1 GSD2s.
I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago at £50 each from valuetyres.co.uk/com

No offence but they're also one of the crappest tyres out there!

Got some Dunlop SP9000's 205/55 zr 15 fitted to mine last week. From blackcircles.com. £154 fitted for the pair. - Just had a look at the website - now gone up to £97 each!!! I see there are some F1's there now for £68 each fitted though...

Probably going to go for the SP9000's on the back too.. (£98 ea fitted 225/50zr16)

Toby.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Sounds like SP9000 is the new standard, availability & pricing = good. I hear they are not quite as soft as the Bridgestones.... so maybe I won't get through them so quick. But then again

Had a few sets of Toyo's now (front and rear) and they're very good both in the dry and the wet. The Bridgestones when we first had the car we crap to put it mildly especially in the wet. Now got T1R's (245/45ZR16) on the rear and SP9000's (205/55/ZR15) on the front - very similar tread pattern too. The SP9000's have done a couple of thousand miles now and seem as good as the Toyo T1R. May go SP9000 on the rear too when needed.
