What Oil???

I know this has been discussed before so I asked a couple a dealers for advice. Fernhurst recommend any fully synthetic oil with any viscosity. However Mole Valley said I should only use Mobil 1 0W-40. Hence I use the Mobil 1 as suggested by both. It would be great to have a definative answer from TVR.

Welcome to the oil debate. TVR Power - who build the things and ought to know -reckon the new Mobil One is too thin and recommend (though not "officially" a good mineral oil. D'ya think TVR get a kickback from Mobil for recommending its stuff? Perish the thought! Me, I'm a coward and so go with Mobil One in case there is a warranty issue. Best of luck. I was advised by Steve Howard of Thames Valley Racing (Tuscans)that Halvoline F4 10/40 synthetic is OK to use. I've just emptied a 5 litre can in 6000 miles, before I would get less than 500 miles for a litre using Mobil 1 and there would be sooty deposits on the rear of the car
