What it says on the tin really. Just sticking some new wishbones in and I've been surprised how 'tight' they feel when nipped up. Assuming this is correct (and I don't see how it can not be where the bush inner gets pinched by the clamping lugs when the bolts are tightened), should they be at the top of their stroke when torqued, or bottom, or midway somewhere? Sorry if this seems a dumb question but I can't think of an obvious answer as there seem to be rights and wrongs either way

Please don't tell me they 'should' flop freely about 'cos I just don't see how that can work and assume the 'bearing' activity takes place with the bush elastic 'shearing'. Doesn't it?

I seem to remember mine were quite tight when I put them on but still movable by hand, but they should not feel floppy. They won't drop under their own weight for instance.

i understand what your saying when i lowered various cars i try to stick them in a mid position of suspension travel,it does matter because if its a metalastic bush if you pinched up with the arm hanging then the first big bump tears the bonded bush from the sleeve because its gone past the rubbers give but will keep going anyway,,as in civics & various others ive seen it done wrong on many an occasion not good,in saying that i dont know if the chim as this arrangment,i,ve not had mine that long to check,i think green V8S could poss answer this one or many of the other guys on this forum,anybody..........

They should be tightened in the normal running position. Build everything up with springs and dampers, rollbar etc, wheels on and car on the ground. Can be made easier for access with axle stands under the hubs and no wheels so as everything is still loaded.

Cheers, that makes sense, I guess there's then enough give in either direction for normal working travel
