Met James Agger at Loughborough station with the car as planned.
Pulled out the paperwork for the insurance and gave them a call... B****** - they don't work on saturdays!!!!!!. So try the next best quote - and they finish at 12noon....

Had visions of sleeping in the car at Loughborough Station until monday morning.

Luckily after 1.5hrs and a nearly flat phone battery, I managed to work a deal through AA insurance (14 days cancellation period/charge for amount used) in order to get her home.

Moral of the story... Sign the insurance before you travel 150miles to pick up a car on a saturday!

Thanks James for your help. You can stop laughing now!

PS - The car was fantastic on the sensible drive home!

Just ran out of time on the friday to phone up and close the deal on the insurance - I thought that most companies were still open on saturdays so just a case of confirming with the ref number ....but then again Ive been with directline forever!.

Thanks for the welcome.

Glad to be back in a TVR!

I stood for a while at Loughborough station waiting for the truck to appear round the corner with my Cerby on the back...then i heard the pop and crack of the Cerb as it fired round the corner. Quite an impressive entrance! Its quite a wait when your exctited!! I bet it wasn't excitememt though it was panic?!

James had let the battery go flat on his truck and had to drive the Cerby...

I assume Loughborough station is still as "delightful" as it was when I was at Uni there...

if it's any consolation I did this years ago with a Ford Escort

All dealers should know about dayinsure....

www.dayinsure.com

At £20 a day it looks pretty handy for fixing "problems"...

Interesting, thanks!.

It was my entirely me fault though, I didn't check that the companies worked on Saturday.

I managed to get instant cover with the AA that I cancelled after 2 days (They have a 14 day cancellation clause in which you only pay for the cover used plus £15 paperwork fee - total cost = £17)

Jeez - Insured through AA Insurance !
I rang them last week as my insurance was up for renewal and
their always claiming to save you 40%. Utter shite.
Quoted me more than 3 times what I currently pay with Churchill - in the region
of £1700 !!!!

That's a brill service, thanks for mentioning it - wish I'd known about it years ago. Add that to my phone list now.
