Please can somebody advise how the 'P' and (0) brake disk warning lights are 'sensed'.

Last week these two lights were staying on when the handbrake was released, and I've checked the rear calipers and freed one of the handbrake mechanisms and now the lights don't come on at all !!

many thanks

Mike

The foot brake switch is up the top part of the peddle, the hand brake switch is directly under the mechanisim, and you will have to take of the tunnel cover for acsess.
Have you looked at the brake fluid level,if low this will make the lights flicker.

brake fluid fine.

seems a strange coincidence that it's gone from permanently on to permanently off having only freed one of the rear calipers ?

Sounds like a dodgy handbrake switch. It is a real pain to get to (speaking from experience)...
It may also be related to the connections on the fluid resevoir so I suggest checking these first (I think if you connect them together the light should come on so this at least confirms the light is connected up ok).
