Interested in fitting rear hoop and harnesses to my Chimaera, various people have mentioned the Roll Centre version - are any others worth checking out? I want the hoop to be functional and usable with seat belts and harnesses. Thanks.

In that case, unless you get one specially made, no.

I used Caged/The Roll Cage People for the racer, they've done a full cage in a Griff before see here www.therollcagepeople.com/gallerycustomerstvr.htm and the one in the racer has subtle differences. I'm sure they could build the rear section quite easily now, becasue they keep a copy of all their custom designs on file for future use.

That bracket where the sides fasten onto the rear hoop is going to punch a pretty neat hole in the side of your skull.

If I were a scrutineer, I'd fail that cage unless those brackets and the top sections were well covered with FIA roll cage foam. I'd certainly be very nervous about being hit from the side.

I've got extra cross bracing, behind the drivers seat and a dash bar that bolts to the main chassis spine, like I said subtle changes. Also the bracket you mention is well out of the way in the even of a side impact, I'm more concerned about relitvely little foor protecting should the OSF wheel station takes an impact, certainly something I'm going to address this winter.

On any car such as a Chimaera it's near impossible to get the roll cage out of the way of the driver and keep within the confines of the car, and as such would never drive a Chim with a full cage in without a helmet. Have you looked at the Tasmin racers? They're even worse; or indeed the several Tuscan racers don't meet the 50mm helmet to top of cage rule?
