Chum of mine has a nice Elan... the seats are great. Comfy, supportive and aesthetically pleasant. Anyone hazard a guess whether a transplant might be a goer? I've done no measuring at all (yet).

Are we talking about the 1990's Elan (aka 'M100') or the 1960's Elan?

My wife has an Elan M100 and I have a Chimaera, and I can tell you if I had to choose which set of seats to have in the Chimaera I'd be trying to negotiate a 3rd option - they're both severely lacking in lateral support and it simply wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to put the Elan seats in the Chimaera.

I wouldn't change the seats in mine but I have a Chimaera, they fit me fine.

If I had to change they would be cerb seats

Eh? Why 'Chimaera' in bold?

I think there's an unwritten law about using the primate word when describing one's car.....

Dammit, too slow.....

Ah, the thread title. I see.

I must confess that, whilst I would never refer to the car as such myself, I tend to do a mental translation to 'Chimaera' whenever I see 'Chimp' and barely notice.

Maybe I'm just getting older and more mellow?

Having an Elan AND a Chimaera I'd say the Elan seats are far more comfortable and supportive and look better.

The Chimaera seats just don't support the right areas unless you have a round shape to fit in them. No lumber and little side support.

However the Cerbie seats, or Tuscan are stunning. But you'd be paying a lot more money for them.

Look at your budget, measure up and go see what would suit.

I don't disagree that the Elan seats are better than the Chimaera, but the point I was trying to make it that they're not sufficiently better to warrant trying to put into the Chimaera.

Tuscan or Cerbera seats would indeed be the preferable option.

Don't the Tuscan and Cerbie seats have significantly higher squab heights... don't really want to be sat any higher?

I fancied Cerb seats, but heard they ain't cheap even at breakers.

Lateral support not so important as I'm a sizeable chap, and between centre console and door bolster on opposite shoulder, I'm not going anywhere!
