Ive chaged the shocks all around to avo black coilovers. I have also changed all the bushes as well. I am using the original TVR springs and it handles crap now... Its been 4 wheel aligned so should all be in the right place...

Please restore my excellent handling!!!!

Try some 375lb springs on the front and 300lb on the back, they will only set you back about £100 ish and help get things a bit better IMHO

The handling of my completely standard Chimaera was scary despite £12K of FSH and a recent service. I took it to a different garage for a four wheel alignment and asked for printouts of the geometry before and after. He found play in two ball joints and missing spacers on the wishbone bushes. Because of the worn balljoints the before settings can't really be relied upon.

Following the set up, the handling has been transformed. It is now a pleasure to drive again and I'll not be going back to a certain TVR specialist. I wonder how many other 'FSH' TVRs there are driving around with wonky wheels?

When changing the dampers, it's best to change the springs as well as they will have worn. Did you get the car set up, not just the wheel aligning, but the ride height and corner weighting? If so, was it by someone who knows what they were doing?

Switch the springs, get it set up and then see what happens.

I have the black Avo dampers with rose joints using the standard springs. I also have steve heaths ARB links.

I am very pleased with the setup. the handling is very direct and has huge grip. Ride comfort could be a bit better, but is no worse than standard.

Leven Technology developed the kit and found that the rose joints are essential.

I know it's popular opinion on here to dislike Avo's, but i am very happy with mine.

Neal, you're in Worcs, so pop the car up to Mike at Horizon Motorsport (10 mins off J4 M5). He's a absolute god of handling and suspension setup, and before running his Indy used to deal with the Tuscan racers, so he knows what he's about. He has a full laser geo setup, and will be able to sort your problems very quickly.

Leven fitted the shocks and set them at 9 clicks from hard at the front and 11 click at the back and was a very good setup.

Since they were fitted, i've added the anti roll bar drop links and played around with the settings. I cant seem to get 22 clicks from the shocks - i can only manage 16 on all four dampers and it takes quite a lot of effort to get the last couple of clicks.

As i'm not sure how many clicks i should have, i now count from the softest position. I can't remember the exact current setup, but it is about 10 clicks from fully soft at the front and 5 clicks at the rear. The softer rear helps with traction - the roads round my way are quite bumpy and i found it skipped too much with a stiff rear. The front can be set quite stiff without affecting ride quality too much and it gives a great, direct turn-in.

The standard springs aren't cheap rubbish - they are Eibach springs and perfectly suitable for road use. However, if i had the option at the time of fitting, i would have opted for stiffer springs, but i am pleased with current setup.

Whilst playing around, i did completely mess up the damper settings - i got a very stiff ride and a the slightest bump would cause a strange 'oscilating' motion front to rear.
