Just thought that i would introduce myself to you all as i live in the Hitchin area and have just bought a Green 4ltr Chimaera.
The car is a 1995 and has done 38,000 miles with a full history but is sadly a non runner due to an alleged electrical fault. It has also been standing for 18months and has lots of water inside due to stitching having come away from the rear screen. I bought it because the price was right and with a little TLC will be a stunning car once again.
Took the battery out today and tried to put it on charge but its completely knackered, also, one of the battery box securing bolts has broken the actual box so a new box will have to be bought.
I would like to say that the threads that are on here will be very useful to me in the next few months and thank you all for the assistance you have given me so far.

Hi Tony, a very big welcome.
If you need to know anything about almost anything then this is the place to be, if you look deep enough you can also find a lot of useful information on cars too.
Hope the refurbish is painless and goes to plan.

Big Al.

Hi, Did you buy the one from Monaco's? I looked at it and recall it had 38000 on the clock. It had gone down in price from when I saw it by about 2k, so might not be a bad deal.

Hi Tony!
Welcome to the tivnutters club. If its any consolation electrical problems are par for the course with the diabolical Lucas Electrics. I bought a '94 chim and got stranded three times on one journey. It would cut out and then for no obvious reason start up again after about half an hour embarrassing if the RAC had just arrived. In the end I had the fuse box replaced and this cleared everything up. Sounds as though yours might be corroded if you have serious leaks
