Does anyone know whether it is possible to retro-fit power steering to an early non PAS TVR Chim 4.0. I assume this would need a new steering rack plus the hydraulic system? Is the rack a Rover or Ford part?
Rack is a TVR special and like hen's teeth to get these days. Also need different column shafts etc to match up as well.
Ok, thanks. Shame it's not 'do-able' but cheers for the info. I've asked about lack of PAS on here before, but opinion is divided so I think I really need to drive one without. I would be parallel parking every time I left the car though, so think it might get a bit tiresome. Just about to join TVR Owners Club and might be able to get a 'local' contact that could demonstrate!
It's REALLY not worth the Time or Expense - I've driven both and the difference is negligable except (perhaps) when parking and even then I wouldn't say it was much of an improvement at all.
Save your cash to spend on something that will make a difference.
