Over the weekend I removed the old electrical tape that was covering
up the delamination to replace it and discovered that the
windscreen rubber surround at the bottom corner (offside) has perished
along a line at the bottom of the glass itself. I presume that to replace
this required the screen out ? In the meantime, what's the best adhesive to
stick it back down. One positive to come out of this is that I have probably
finally found the leak into the drivers footwell.

HI
stickflex or equivalent panel adesive should do the trick, this is basicly the same compound as the windscreen centres use, only the stuff at the centres is 10 x stronger.
good luck

The windscreen is bonded to the car with black sikaflex 221.
The rubber is then bonded to the screen to seal the screen to the car body.
After a lot of searching I found my water leak was caused by the rubber not having
a good seal to the screen and bodywork.
You should be able to pull back the rubber with the screen in situ, clean all the old crap from
both the body and the screen and then run a bead of sikaflex along each edge of the rubber and then push the rubber back. (make sure there's no moisture in there by drying with a hair dryer)
Hold in place with a bit of masking tape until the sikaflex is dry.(about 3 hours)
Hopefully your leak will be no more and the rubber will look and lot better than some old electrical tape bodge.
Good luck and take your time.
Paul.
