coolant temperature gauge
Discussion
Now that I've fitted the modwise kit for the "spare" sender, I've found that the indicated temperature now goes up REALLY quickly compared to before. It now takes say 3/4mile to get to 75C compared to 2-3 miles. It then gets to an indicated 90-95C and stays there, rather than hovering around 80C.
I'm hoping that the "quicker warm-up" is simply because I'm seeing reality now?

Mines gets warm very quickly, quicker than any other car iv had before! Im assuming its just down to the engine as iv read that other people experience the same thing!
And as for the gauge temp, i dont know how accurate yours is but my gauge shows 100c when the actual temp (measured in the swirl pot) is around 78c!

Its because the guage is not calibrated across the temp range as the spare sender does not have the correct temp curve. The Modwise kit mods it so it is Ok around normal operating temp but below and above it, it isn't accurate. Ignore the actual values and go on the position.
Do you happen to know the temperature curve of the "spare" sender? If I've tweaked the widget so that the gauge normally reads 90C, then what does an indicated 95C equate to? I'm just a little edgy because I'm so used to the old sender going up and down on a whim, whereas using the spare, the gauge sits solid at 90C, whether in traffic or blatting.
Is it possible to fit a sender with the correct temperature curve for the gauge?
