After my recent hot-start incident I've been thinking about the cause.

I noticed that there are two HOT, uninsulated pipes running through the top of the battery box. I don't like the idea of the battery & ECU being cooked. Should these pipes have insulation? Is there any reason why I shouldn't add some pipe lagging to them?

Hi, they're the supply and return to the heater matix, lagging them won't really do them much harm, and at 50p/m or whatever B&Q charge for the stuff you can have a go, but I don't see them causing much harm to the contents of the pasenger footwell, unless the pipes leak which will be more difficult to spot if lagged.

Ive placed a sheet of heat resistant material (bought from Demon tweeks) around my ecu so it doesnt get so hot. guess you could lag the pipes but this way seemed less hassle to me.
