Hey forum - can anyone help?
I've had a Chimaera since '97, and all of a sudden when I lock the car, the alarm is giving me the 3 beep warning, as if I've left a door open. I happens every time I alarm the car, irrelevant of checking the doors and boot.
The only thing I can think of, is maybe the door has dropped causing a loose connection somewhere.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

More likely to be boot related? (I thought the three beep thing was boot open warning?)

Have you tried having somebody gently apply pressure to the boot while you set? Just a thought.

What alarm unit do you have fitted? That 3 beep thing doesn't sound like a feature of the Meta 99 unit which I thought was standard? The standard switches in the sill that should get pushed in when the doors are closed are prone to getting mucked up. Does your alarm use those switches?

If there's no beeps, at least it'll give you a clue what to investigate further. Good luck.

I've had seven Chimaeras with standard alarm...all bar one beeped on alarm set with boot open. (Didn't stop me driving about with it open though )

Which year were they? The 97 Chim I have doesn't have a switch to detect that the boot is open. There's a pro forma letter from TVR for insurance purposes explaing that this means the installation is only rated to Thatcham Cat2.

Ah, that's probably it. Either that or mine is a Friday afternoon special.

Thanks for the advice. It came as standard and I believe its Thatcham II. Holding the boot firmly down did the trick twice today - let's see what happens tomorrow ... and then I'll go hunting around for the switch in the boot - hopefully its easy to find/de-clog!
Thanks all.
