I think my clutch is slipping. Under heavy acceleration (in 3rd and 5th), the revs rise slightly and acceleration isn't normal.

Is that definately the clutch? OR could it have anything to do with the cam shaft (which I know will need replacing soon).

BTW: 98R, 5.0 Chimaera, 45K

Cheers.

I had the same syptoms and it was the clutch starting to go. Probably allright to live with it as long as you can, but it will get progressively worse (at least that what I was told). Not much fun though if you have to accelerate 'sensibly'.

If the revs are rising faster than the car is moving forwards (and you're not wheel spinning!) its 99% likely to be clutch related.. (or you're in neutral! )

As already said, its not really harmful but will get progressively worse and eventually get on your nerves as it will do it more frequently and easily.

So how much to supply and fit a new clutch. I was just told £300 parts and 2 days labour, totalling £800. Does that sound silly?

Cheers.

I've heard figures like that floating around...
Seems fairly normal... However i would be interested where the 2 days labour come from.. I thought the clutch was very accessible..

There is an advert in sprint for £540 fitted. PA Wood motorbodies, 01702337735

No idea if they are any good - never used them (just remembered the advert)

I had my last full service at Woods. Phil and the boys seem to have done a good job and for a reasonable price.

There are some different Clutch Specs available so that may be a price for the cheapest option.. Still seems pretty good though..
