Its been the longest 2 weeks of my life but today i picked up my new baby, thankfully i didnt stall it wen i pulled off and apart from opening the passenger door instead of my own every time iv needed 2 get out i think iv done ok, fightened the life out of myself over taking a tractor, but i loved it, the noise is incredible although might have a few nieghbour issues.
Trouble is all i seem 2 see on the website is problems and cost, and im terrified iv made a silly impulsive mistake, im niether rich or mechanicaly minded although iv a gd friend who`s happy to help, think maybe iv over faced myself!

Don't get paranoid. The later chimaeras such as a 98 are very reliable (probably the most reliable TVRs of all time, contrary to popular uninformed opinion. Keep it serviced by someone reliable/credible, used it regularly and there is no reason why it should not be as reliale as anything else.

I am now in my 4th year with a 98 chimaera and it has been near perfect the whole time. Lots of Le mans trips (this is 1st year I have had to miss it!!!!), just came back from a 800 mile round trip to Spa and the car has never missed a beat.

Just go out, use it and enjoy it. But respect it especially if it is wet.

Congratulations Lynsey! I'm sure you won't regret buying your Chim. I'm afraid a few of the recent negative posts have been mine - just bought an ultra low mileage Chim which I knew could be asking for trouble. However I owned one a couple of years ago and she was brilliant no trouble at all. Enjoy the summer, be careful in the wet and for peace of mind join the AA!

Hi there, congrats, you haven't made a mistake!! You will love it! Don't forget that in general people don't come on here and say 'I've just been out for a drive it was great' we already know that! The only reason for a lot of posts is for second opinions or help over slight issues! For every post with a problem there are hundreds of people driving round with no probs whatsoever!!! Have fun!!
cheers Rich

Agree with everyting said above... you'll love it, and it'll take care of you as long as you take care of it.. it will cost you a few quid more than 'normal cars' to keep on the road... but then again very little beats the pleasure you'll get from it.

Welcome Lyndsay
I still remember driving mine home on the first day, very nervous. The second day I spent most of the day driving it. 8 months later I still smile every time I look at it and drive it.
Best advise drive it as much as you can afford.

Glad your (ex-)broken leg isn't giving you too much jip! Overtaking tractors (or indeed anything else!) always fun...

I've had my '97 450 for two years now and it's really not been too bad - never let me down! Problem is, when nothing goes wrong the contingency budget just sits there, and suddenly those nitron shocks/bigger wheels/Mark Adams chip etc etc seem to get more and more tempting...

I still find myself glancing back sometimes when walking away... Regret buying the chim? Not likely!

Hope you and your Dad had a blast! I've had mine for 50,000 miles now and it still makes me grin like an idiot.
