Took the new toy out for a drive on Sunday, must say I was impressed by the amount of grip she had, considering I had sold the lotus to get another Chimaera..

I am sure my old Chimaera never had this much grip...

An Elise S1.

Have SO3s, which are the same as I had on my old Chimaera.

Two different cars - Elise would handle loads better - Chim also has its benefits - why did you swap again out of interest?

So many people mistake the chimaera for having little grip just because it has tricky on-limit handling.

The reality is, it has loads of grip, you just need to be more skillful to fully exploit it.

Well, the Elise was no-where near as practical as the old Chimaera.. It was damn fun to drive, don't get me wrong..

JSR, I said it was more grippy than my old Chimaera, that is what was a surprise to me...

I know - my comment wasn't aimed at you. I was just praising Chimaera's

I did an airfield training day a couple of years back along with an elise driver. What surprised me was that in the high speed corning exercise, i could carry more speed than the elise. At the end of the day we passengered in each others cars. My Chmaera could definitely corner just as quick if not quicker than the elise (and was alot quicker in a straight line) but the elise had such a great balance. The driver got out of shape in one corner but was easily able to control and hold the slide. My chimaera was a lot more difficult - you need to be a lot quicker and more skillful to control it. I spun quite a few times

Ah, that makes more sense.

I think part of it stems simply from the fact that the Chimaera doesn't look or feel as if it is travelling as fast as the speedo tells you, whilst the Elise certainly does...
