Given that it's left hand drive, it's possible that the Carbon Canister has been placed in the left-hand front wing, and not the other! It's part of the breather system off the fuel pipes, and should be accessible from the bulb replacement hatch within the inner wing.

If thats not it, i'm stumped....

I would ensure that you replace the hoses like-for-like, are there any marking on it. The main fuel hose needs to be robust enough to cope with the presures of the fuel injection system, but i'm not sure if the canister is within the presurised system, or just a vent? If you can't get any similar locally, i'm sure one of the UK dealers would mail you some out.

The access hatch on mine is within the wheelarch towards the front (not in the inner wing from the engine bay) and looking at your car, i would have thought it was a later facelift one so there should be one too. If it is an earlier one with a removable front grille, you may be able to reach it once the grille has been removed.

The canister is a service item and i've been told should be replaced every couple of years, but don't quote me on that!

Hope you get it sorted
