Keep looking That-daddy, I spent around 7 months looking for my car.
Looked at 12 cars before I bought mine. (privately)
Got sick of being told the car was "immaculate" and on arrival saw a heap of SH++T.
Saw alot with Poor body work, chips and scratches in all sorts of funny places.
Loads with really grotty insides and dodgy history.
Be patient and you shall be rewarded.
Paul.

Mine's just having the suspension sorted before it goes on the market. Not wishing to use this forum as the classifieds but it's had several things done to it that will hopefully make it appealing to a potential buyer:
GAZ shocks all round
Front end respray ( <1000 miles ago)
New discs + pads all round
Sleeved exhaust
Mark Adams Tornado chip
ACT Carbon fibre trumpets in the plenum
New starter motor
New battery
Magnecor ignition leads
It's a 98 R 4.0 that's done 56 and a bit thousand miles, in Monza red with a magnolia and black half hide interior.
The shocks are going on on Tuesday/Wednesday and hopefully it'll be ready for a nice new home soon after. I was in the same predicament when I bought it (3 years ago) in that the ones I saw were either a bit shabby or owned by people who didn't seem to have a clue. (e.g. one guy told me it was a 'good British V12' and gave me a look as though I'd questioned his parentage when I asked him if he was sure it wasn't a V8!) I ended up doing a 600 mile round trip to see the one I ended up buying, was worth it in the end though.
Happy hunting, Simon

Well, there are more dogs than princes out there that is for sure. But as with anything like this, it is worth the time and trouble searching for one.
I do admit it is a pain travelling for 3 hours to see a "mint" car to discover it is anything but. Sadly what some people consider saleable condition is rather optimistic in my book.

I agree - I saw a few awful ones until I viewed one belonging to a PHer & it ticked all the boxes for my budget.
The most bizarre one had a perfect chassis - looked virtually brand new (apparently it was original one) but the rest of the car was as rough as a badgers arris.
