As you may be aware I had a slight cooling mishap on the Chim over the weekend...namely an air lock in the rad and a cooked engine.

One thing I was told (naturally after the event), is that I should add a pipe from the bleed screw on the top O/s of the rad to the swirly pot on the cross member, and weld in a new tail into the swirl pot to accommodate it, this will help prevent air locks in the rad.

My question is will adding a T piece to the pipe to the expansion tank have the same effect?

Regards
Iain

Only if the pipes are uphill all the way from the radiator, past the T piece and into the swirl tank.

Not sure of your symptoms but is the thermostat working?

Thermostat is potentially being removed and replaced with a restrictor plate.

At the end of the day I didn't fill the coolant properly, got an airlock in the rad (it was barely warm), by the time I was back in the pits the temperature had gone up to 115oC peak and that was that.
With no back up there was no way the system could cope, hence I want to take the extra feed off the swirl pot to bleed the rad, but it would be useful if i didn't have to modify the swirl pot, hence adding the T piece.
