Evening folks where can I get a door solenoid for my 98 Chimaera? It is the two wire variety.

Ta in advance.

One of the breakers will probably have one. I recently paid one of them (can't remember which one right now) £6 for the boot release soleniod.

It's a Ford product, but I believe Maplin sell a direct replacement - I'm sure I've seen the part number in a previous post on here.

The answer is Maplin, the part number is YD79L. There's a replacement guide on TVR Chimaera Pages

Brillinat, thanks for that - however I tried the Maplins route and the solenoid was a 1/4 of the size of mine.

Really? When I replaced mine the maplin unit was very slightly smaller but the mounting slots and everything lined up fine... (I have a '98 Chim too)

Maybe you should try the 5 wire version, I'm told that these work fine (when you work out which 2 wires to use).

The YD79L is the replacement hence not exactly the same size,Could try a crappy for a cavalier one? or you should have one in the fleet Corin. If you get stuck/Desperate I have a 2 wire one blue/red wires made by "Spal correggio Italy"( which I believe is the same for the doors) that I have used as a Glove box Solinoid before I brough DB modwise kit.

Thinking about this, the Maplin solenoid is about 5" long(closed) can't see any solenoid being 4 times bigger than that?
