Now, I'm sure I won't be complaining in the winter, but in this very rare spell of warm weather, I find my fans in my Chimaera will only pump out hot air, starting at pretty warm, right up to very bloody hot!

Any ideas of how to make this 'cooler' bearing in mind I don't have a/c? She gets a little warm in the cab when tootling along!! Obviously, it can only be as cool as the outside air, preferably not engine warmed by the time it gets to me...

Like I said, come the winter I am sure I'll love this, but wondered if there is a quick fix for this?

By the way - I spent an innocent weekend in Weymouth, only to be distracted by 15 or so TVRs rumbling along the beach front! Excellent work! And to think I got blamed for it...

"They all do that sir."

The only thing that might help is a 2-stage radiator fan kit, it reduces the engine bay temp and thus reduces heat-soak into the cabin.

Ok - thought that was the case, and yes, I was 'sans roof' to 11:30 last night when my return journey ended!

Not really a problem I suppose as the hot weather will last another few days at the most, and then it'll be back to normal...

Standard cooling for the chim, just varying degrees of hot!
I was stuck in traffic a couple of weeks ago and was so hot it was unbeleivable, got burnt as well as had the roof off but hey it was still fun!

yep that interior ventilation very poor, feels like it makes things hotter, good way of getting the ladies to shed some clothing though,nudge,nudge..im on about the extra vents around the footwells, not the main vent system.seams to move warm air around.

Would have to disagree that they all do that or that it is standard Chim cooling. If I turn the heater dial to cold, I get standard outside temperature air being blown around, which is enough to make things feel cooler. It only becomes hot air if I turn the dial up to hot. Maybe check your heater valve is shutting off properly. Alternatively, as already mentioned, take the roof off - but even then , you don't want loads of hot air blasting around.

Don't forget (as if you didn't already know?) that there are vents that you can open manually, one each in the Drivers and passengers footwells. Well more under the dash really. They are round and you have to manually open the flaps. You can only see them by hanging upside down in the seats, bat style, but one you know they're there you can easily find them by feel.

Thes events allow a flow of air at ambient temp around the nether regions.

So in other words, in this weather, they fry one's knackers

They don't all have it for some reason. It's at the top of the transmission tunnel on mine, an identical round flap to the nearside one.

Chris is spot on, imho.I've met several people with griffs who have thought that the ventilation temp was normally hot,and re-calibrated the heater valve for them.If the flow of coolant through the matrix is not completely stopped when the temp adjuster knob is set to cold, then you will get warmer air,as you might expect. This seems to be common in the Griff.Another little problem on griffs(possibly on chims too)is that even once you get it set to cold properly, the valve can still move of its own accord. This i believe to be from heat migration affecting the valve pot value,so the valve eventually gets moved as it thinks its in the wrong position. This can be cured by simply adding a switch in the power feed to the valve motor,so that you can disable the motor, once it's set in the correct position, then no-matter what happens,it stays cold all the time.
I'm really not sure how the Chimaera heating is configured(i know its different),but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's the same problems causing the same symptoms.
One test is to see if you can pass water through the matrix, with say a hosepipe, when the valve is set to cold, you can do this quite easily in the engine bay.If water passes through then you know it isnt set up correctly.
Dont put up with T.A.D.T.S,because they can often be improved, sometimes more than you realise

Mine is to the left of the steering columb, about halfway down. you need to fiddle around amongst the spaghetti of wiring. Once you know where it is it's easy to find, but is very difficult to see, even when hanging 'bat style' from the seat.

Stop! Some people are missing the key point here. See my earlier post and the one from Mongoose. Finding other vents etc is ignoring the primary problem that your heater matrix isn't being closed off properly. Don't put up with this!!!
