Chimp Differential type ?
Discussion
Is there a defined way of determining which differential you have fitted?
Mine is a 95/96 Chim 500 (year of changeover). The differential itself has larger cooling fins at the base and an awkward filler position. I think its teh GKN variant, however, i need to be sure on teh basis the oil used is different between types.

Could it be a Salisbury diff?I had one of these on my 96 Griff, and it was a pain to get to the filler plug. The filler was directly above the drain at the rear, but there are chassis members in the way a bit.Square key to the plug if memory serves
The 'large fins' does sound like the GKN though.....

Thanks - The bible image does look very similar so i will take it as a GKN. Whats oils are used on teh basis teh recommended oil is now discontinued?
If you can afford it,put Redline super heavy,or just the plain heavy 'shockproof' in it.This oil is suitable for all three diff types apparently.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
