Recommended TVR service centre???
Discussion
Chaps I am an Elise owner and do not frequent TVR forums very often...however, my father owns a Chimaera and mentioned how much he was being charged for the next service. I won't mention what dealer, but they quoted £700ish - that seemed steep to me.
Personally I take mine to a specialist (especially now that my warranty expired) - I find they do a better job and normally half the price. Is it the same case with TVRs?? Are main dealers a rip-off? If so, can anyone recommend any specialists in the East Anglia area??
Thanks in advance.

Try this list of specialists...
I guess that £700 is for the 12k service, I think some specialists do it for nearer £500.

Rich,
Only had my Chimaera for just under 2 mths but have already checked the prices for a service. There is only one specialist in Scotland that's anywhere near me (Edinburgh to Callander) and they charge (if memory serves) £580 for the 6k service and about £640ish for the 12k. It goes without saying that specialists know the TVR range inside and out and would do a very good job ! There is, however, a local garage up the road from me who charges £160 plus anything that needs doing, he only works classic cars and on the rover V8 TVR's. My book is stamped with nothing but specialists so far so i'm tempted to use the cheep option this year and then of to Callander next year.
Cheers

Hi Rich
I have been ripped off by the dealer you decline to mention. I now take my Chimaera to Scole Engineering 01379740940. They are true enthusiasts, they are resonably priced and also have a rolling road.
The TVR Car club RO uses them aswell. Hope this helps.

There's good and bad either side of the indie/main dealer divide. Recommendations (preferably more than one) are the best way to find value for money servicing not cheap servicing.
Also I suggest that "specialist" is not a helpful abbreviation of "independent specialist" - I would argue that the TVR main dealer that has serviced and repaired my TVR over the past 4 years - Racing Green - is just as much a specialist as any independent you could list, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I always take mine to Offords £400 for a 12K service, great blokes, car is always set up really well after they have hold of it and they always consult about anything that needs doing. Based in Offord Darcy, its not too far for you plus they do a coutesy car. They advertise in Sprint magazine.
