On the way to work this morning couldn't help but notice the vans on peoples drives ready to go.
Now lets ignore the practicalities of fitting a towbar and just assume that a custom built one has been fitted.
How would a Chim (or any TVR for that matter) stand up to towing ? I would assume that with the amount or torque that they produce, probably not much of a problem, but stability and weight may be an issue under braking.
Just to make it absolutely clear I am not in anyway considering doing this.

NO it would be very wrong - much better to buy a cheap diesel for this nonsense BUT if you know the kerb weight of a chim I'll work it out if its realistic? (another one of my previous jobs)

Have never heard of any towbar companies that do a kit though and I definately wouldn't fancy fitting one

The concept of a towbar on a chim would be more acceptable if it was for a speedboat...

Perhaps you should spot TVR's on the way to work rather than caravans, you'll see them soon enough, when they are in front of you when you're driving the Tiv.
Seriously though, it wouldn't work. TVR is too light plus bags of power and massive torque.
Result? Massive crash.
And can you imagine the embarrassment of the newspaper report
"Crashed TVR sports car with Sprite Muscateer block M4 as thousands try to get away for the bank holiday"
Try living THAT down!!!!!!!!!

he's right they are too light - you could only tow something safely (ie car in control not towed object) that weighs less than 935kg with a tuscan so all in all VERY BAD IDEA!

I'm sure I've seen a picture on here (and quite recently too) of a Wedge with a towbar used for towing a racecar.

I'll have a rummage in the archives.......

....and a tasmin can only safely tow something less than 892.5kg.

But on the plus side you could put the roof, tools and spares in the caravan, leaving lots of space in the boot
I'll get me coat.

There was a picture of an M Series towing a trailer in Sprint a few years ago.As the chassis ends at the back wheels I dont know what you would bolt a tow bar to.

I don't have a piccy (yet) but my mate has a yellow Landrover (called Maisy) fitted with a TVR 450 engine he got from Bell Hill Garage from a dead Chim which he uses to pull his 5m RIB or his Exige track car.

That is a pretty mean tow-weapon, I can tell you.

A friend of mine has a tow bar fitted to his Cobra kit car, for towing a trailer though, not a caravan.
