What settings are you using with Gaz suspension.
Discussion
After finding out my AVO's were shot Austec kindly fitted some Gaz coilovers to my 450 and I've been playing around with them today!
I was wondering how many "clicks" people are using front and back??? I've set my up quite hard and the handling is miles better than the old AVO's!
Also I need to book in for a geo. set up...what settings would you recommend for fast road/track?
Cheers

Try 15 clicks from soft on the front and 25 clicks from soft on the rear.
I'm pretty happy with 1/2mm toe in front and back but some toe in 1mm on the front, 3/4 degree of negative camber at standard ride height seems about average.
I'm in with Steve Howard tomorrow morning if you want to give me a ring on the Ab Shocks number and we will check with him.

Question: Do you find the new Gaz shocks make the car less "crashy" over bumps and potholes? Mine is on standard suspension, is 7 years old, and has done 45,000 miles, and is feeling a bit "slow-witted".
I wouldn't go as far as to say the handling is actually bad, though. The car just doesnt feel taut, and it makes a bit of a dogs breakfast of roads with less-than-smooth surfacing - do you think getting some Gaz shocks will improve things?
Finally - is the nickel plated option purely cosmetic, or does it have some other benefit than bling-value?
Cheers.
I'll try those settings Gazman...I've counted the fronts and I'm certain there are 42 clicks but there doesn't seem to be as many at the rear!?!?! Is this correct? I'm out all day so won't be able to call, but if you could check and post the recommendations it would be most appreciated.
Sharky you can sounds like how mine was, suspension was soft(ish) but had no control over bumpy surfaces and was very crashy, the Gaz coilovers have sorted all this out! The ride is miles firmer but not crashy at all and the car drive miles better especially on fast bumpy roads....I need to sort out the Geo. before I really push it as the camber on my wheels is all over the place!!!!
Cheers

Cool, thats what I was hoping you'd say. Shouldn't Austec have sorted out the geo? (BTW - what did Austec charge fo fitting, if you dont mind me asking?)
Austec's 4 wheel lazer alignment is not working so they couldn't do it.....abit strange as I had booked in to have a 4 wheel alignment!!!! We had quite a bit of trouble getting the old suspension off and had to do quite a bit of machining to make the new Gaz shocks fit...so I got stung for 6 hours when it can 3 hours sometimes!!
It's never simple with my Chim!

Blimey
I would love to know what machining they had to do, as far as I'm concerned they bolt straight on using the spacers Gaz provide.
The only thing I can think of is that dopey drawers in dispatch at the factory sent out the wrong spacers and Paul had to machine them to size rather than wait for replacements.
On the Geo front, whilst Paul's "walking talking" kit is great Andy at APM and others are more than capable of setting up tracking and camber using the old methods they use on the racecars if Austecs kit is broken.
On the settings, 15 from soft on the front and 25 from soft on the rear is a fast road type set-up, 12 on the front and 20 on the rear would fine for cruising/ daily driver IMHO but this is a very personal thing and you would either have to consult with an expert or play with the settings yourself.
You will need to revisit the ride height anyway after driving it for a week, so that would be a good time to check the geo.
