Hi - I've just bought an electric coolbox for when we go to France with the Surrey Mob in Sept and am wondering about the best way to wire it into the boot of the Chim. I have a 12v female cig lighter socket thingy and will include an inline switch and inline fuse
Any ideas about where to connect from and what fuse size ?

Somewhere on the unit or in the instructions it should say how much current it draws, that is the key to deciding where to plug it in. I guess it is a Peltier cell device some of which can draw a large amount of power. The wires to the ciggy lighter socket may struggle with that (so will the battery if you leave it connected with the engine off)

I had a similar cooler with a 10A fuse built in. Protect the circuit with a 15A fuse. As you're fitting a fuse and switch, pick up the supply directly from the battery. Run a dedicated ground wire from there too. When you buy the cable, tell them it needs to draw a continuous current of 15A (I'm not sure what gauge that is, but they'll know). Enjoy the trip!
