Hi all - I guess this happens to everyone sooner or later, I lost my splitter to a dead fox in the road last night. I retreived it (the splitter not the fox), but my question, because I am at Brands Hatch for the track day tomorrow, is do you think it will affect the handling? Especially the turn in to Paddock say.

Its a bit bent and I don't think I can refit it myself as it will need some new holes.

Comments appreciated.

Most cars don't have them becuase they get ripped off or were never fitted. Will it affact the handling? Not that much that you would notice.

Losing the splitter doesn't seem to affect handling, as Steve says, but it deffinitely affects the under bonnet temperature. I have had to replace mine 4 or 5 times (new one cost about £12 one time) but definitely noticed the temp guage reading much hotter....so in the current weather I'd replace it.

Just back from Brands - what a great day, and pleased to say that the car handled superbly. Intrax adjustables from Austec got a good workout.

I think it all depends on what year your Chimaera is. If it has a Cerbera type front end then I believe the splitter makes little difference. If you have the earlier vehicle with the mesh grill it will make a difference. The front grill is very good at increasing the positive presssure around the nose of the vehicle and can cause lift at high vehicle speeds.
